Subject: Illegal Signage
Dear Sirs,
Please consider this a Courtesy Notice of Violation.Your business has been found to be in
violation of the following City Code.
City Code,Chapter 17,Sec 17-29: Exceeding the amount of permitted signage for a business.
It was recently brought to our attention that some of the business owners in Atlantic Beach felt that the
restrictions regarding window signage were not being interpreted properly. Based on these concerns,the
City's Attorney and Zoning Official were consulted. It was determined that the signage for each business
had to be determined independently and should be based on the existing square footage of any permitted
fascia sign and the building's frontage.
Using this guidance, I've taken the square footage of your existing fascia sign and subtracted it from the
maximum amount of signage permitted under City Code Chapter 17, Sec 17-29. You are only permitted to
display a maximum of 15 Square Feet of advertising in your windows.
In an effort to eliminate any undue hardship, I am granting you 14 days from receipt of this notification to
bring your business into compliance by ensuring the amount of window advertising does not exceed 31
