RE:Notice of violation of Atlantic Beach Code of Ordinances,Section 22-32 Connection of
private water systems to city system prohibited at property known as: 1729 Ocean Grove Dr.
Dear Mr. Laliberte: e
Please be advised, the prope at 1729 Ocean G e r. is fie d to be in violation of
City of Atlantic Beach Code Seed a 22-32, Co ection of riv a water systems to city
system prohibited which states " person sha inter n a privately owned water
system to the city's water system."
While investigating to determi a wh yo me not indicated any water usage for
two years,the City determin that the ter 1 0 our City meter is somehow connected to
a line from a private well o o location. s is resulting in backpressure, causing the
City meter to spin backwards. 's ituation c tee a dangerous cross-connection whereby
untreated water from an unknown urce could e r the City's potable water system.
This letter requests the noted violati be corrected by disconnecting the private well
system from the City supplied water system and installing a reduced pressure zone
backflow preventer within 3 days from receipt of this letter. The backflow preventer must be
tested by a certified tester and results sent to Public Utilities. If the violation is corrected and
then recurs or if the violation is not corrected by the time specified in this notice this case may be
referred to the Atlantic Beach Code Enforcement Department for further action that may result in
fines up to $250 a day for each day the violation continues. In addition, to protect the City's
water system from contamination,the City will turn the water off at the meter.
To avoid having this matter referred to our Code Enforcement Department, all listed
violation(s)on this notice must be in compliance on or before the date established.
A reinspection will be occur within 7 days to determine if the violation has been
corrected.
It is our goal to enforce the codes and ordinances of the City of Atlantic Beach and
protect the health, safety and welfare of the City, and accordingly, your cooperation in this
matter is greatly appreciated.

Dear Mr.Laliberte;
Please be advised,Atlantic Beach Code Enforcement has found the property at the above referenced
address to be in violation of Chapter 22,Section 22-23—Connection of private water system per Atlantic
Beach Code of Ordinances,which states"No person shall interconnect a privately owned water system to the
city's water system."
This letter requests the noted violation be corrected by disconnecting private well system from the city
supplied water system within ten days from receipt of this letter. If the violation is corrected and then recurs
or if the violation is not corrected by the time specked in this notice this case may be presented to the
Atlantic Beach Code Enforcement Board even if the violation has been corrected prior to the board meeting.
The Code Enforcement Board may impose fines up to$250 a day for each day the violation is not corrected.
A re-inspection will be done on/or after lune 5,2010. To avoid having this Code Enforcement case set
for hearing,all listed violation(s)on this notice must be in compliance on or before the date established by
Atlantic Beach Code Enforcement.Upon completing the corrective action(s)required,it is your
responsibility to contact Atlantic Beach Code Enforcement and arrange for an inspection to verify
compliance.
