The month kicks off with our annual Easter Egg hunt on Saturday, April 4th from 10 am to 1 pm at the Jordan Park Community Center. Bring the little ones out to meet the Easter Bunny, ride the train and enjoy all the fun activities. Next, the University of North Florida's English Department will hold its 6th Annual Shakespeare in the Park with a presentation of “Twelfth Night” on April 10th and 11th from 6 to 10 pm. Pack a picnic supper and bring the family out to beautiful Johansen Park to enjoy a night under the stars. All performances are free and open to the public. On Saturday, April 25th, the Atlantic Beach Cultural Arts & Recreation Advisory Committee will sponsor the 12th Annual Arts in the Park. This is one of the City’s most popular events and is quickly becoming one of the region’s best art shows. Make plans to come out and enjoy the day under the elegant oak trees. There will be live music and a variety of local food vendors providing refreshments. Regular monthly events held at Bull Park include our Mid Week Farmers Market every Wednesday afternoon from 3-6, and our Songwriters Concert in the Adele Grage Community Center on April 12th from 6-8 pm. Our musical host, Mike Shackelford and his fellow talented performers from our region will transform the Atlantic Beach Theater into a magical space with original musical creations by neighbors and friends. Bring a friend...or three! On April 26th come for Acoustic Night and hear local musicians perform popular music solos or play with a small band on the lawn. Bring a picnic, visit with neighbors, and enjoy the outdoors and area playground. In closing, I would like to welcome our City Manager Nelson Van Liere and his family to town. They moved into the Selva Norte area and are getting settled in and enjoying becoming Atlantic Beach residents.
