We are welcoming our new Interim City Manager, Nelson Van Liere who has been serving the City as our Finance Director since 1998 and has offered to serve the City in this new capacity. He can be reached by phone at 247-5806 or email nvanliere@coab.us. In addition, coming on board is our Interim City Attorney Rich Commando, of Kopelousos, Bradley & Garrison, P.A. Please join all of us at City Hall in making them feel welcome as we build a team to accomplish the City’s main goal of enhancing our already great quality of life. Our 1st Quarter Town Hall meeting will be taking place in January. The date, time and place are yet to be decided and will be posted to our City Calendar. The Commission looks forward to hearing your concerns, ideas, and vision for our great community. The Town Hall Meeting will be followed by our strategic planning workshops in the spring, where we develop a plan to bring these ideas together and build our future. One item that came out of these workshops and is sure to bring years of enjoyment is the newly expanded and renovated Rose Park, which was celebrated with a ribbon cutting ceremony held on December 14th. Commissioner Daugherty first introduced this idea in 2010 and he has worked diligently to see many improvements which includes a future small dog park. Kudos to all involved. As we welcome in 2014, I want to remind you we are here to serve the community. I can always be reached by email at cwoods@coab.us, or by phone at 241-8973. To contact the entire Commission please email ElectedOfficials@coab.us . Blessings to you and yours, Carolyn Woods SAVE WATER TO ENSURE OUR FUTURE WATER SUPPLY Atlantic Beach drinking water comes from wells drilled into the Floridan Aquifer at a depth of 700 to 1,000 feet. We’re fortunate to have this pure and plentiful water source. Please conserve water to make sure this source will last for generations. • The Floridan Aquifer is the largest aquifer in the southeastern United States, and one of the most productive aquifers in the world. • It is found beneath all of Florida and parts of Alabama, Georgia and South Carolina—and extends into the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean • It averages 1,000 feet thick, and fresh water can extend to a depth of 2,000 feet below land surface • Floridians use about 2.5 billion gallons of water from the Floridan each day. Remember Your Day: Only irrigate on your day, before 10:00 a.m. and after 4:00 p.m. Odd numbered addresses - Saturday Even numbered addresses - Sunday Nonresidential properties – Tuesday For more information on water conservation go to www.FloridasWater.com SAVE THE DATE!
