Present: Grant Healy, Nick Malie, Dawn Pope, Jay Wilson, Faye Wood, Pam White, Timmy Johnson (City
Liaison), Della Giovanni (Recording Secretary)

8. Call to order – Chair, Grant Healy called the meeting to order – 6:05 pm
9. Minutes from January 24, 2017 approved as written.
10. Chair, Grant Healy
1. Discussed that the budget for 2017-18 fiscal year will be discussed at March meeting.
2. Explained recruitment for committees – Grant attended a meeting with Commissioner Stinson
requesting input from committee members re: training, retaining, structure and orientation.
Members were asked to present ideas at the March meeting so Grant can present them at his next
meeting with Commissioner Stinson.
a) Dawn suggested having a Board Member from the west side of Mayport Rd. to have that
community represented on the committee
b) Nick suggested someone from Mayport Middle School for more diversity.

12. Guest Speakers/Proposals
1. Giving Closet, Annie Raynor & Jennifer Smith
a. Carry over from last year
b. Does not qualify for Grants yet for 501c3 for another year
c. Supported by United Way; filtering clothes nationwide
d. Fletcher Middle School will serve as beaches hub
e. Committee supported last year
f. Committee decided to put on March agenda to discuss with the proposed budget
2. Turkey Trot Funding – Anne Marie Tucker
a. 2016 Event up 175% participation
b. Request Line Item in budget for future years as City support
c. Donated $6000 to Brooks Rehab.
d. Donations leftover get carry‐over to next year’s event
e. Atlantic Beach only event; family event
f. Dawn motioned to make a Line Item in recurring Budgets; Beverly seconded; all in
favor. Amount of Line Item to be decided at March meeting.
3. List of requests will be discussed at next meeting with the proposed budget:
Neptune Beach Elementary Kindermusik program
13. Ongoing Business
a) Songwriters/Acoustic Night – no one attended from the Committee to report
b) Artisans’ Faire –Pam requested donation to Beachside Buggies for driver since
driver provided service for 5 hours and only received $10.
a. T. Johnson suggested each member put in $5 to cover payment
b. Dawn motioned $50 contribution as to stay on good terms with
Beachside Buggies for future use‐Jay seconded the motion – 5 yea; 1 nay
– Nick Malie
c) Bocce Ball – Jay Wilson
a. Need to find new date due to Tide Chart; will discuss at next meeting
b. Jax Surf & Paddle ‐ assist with Sign‐Ups at AITP ‐ T. Johnson discussed
per City Ordinance, only City Employees are allowed to accept cash for a
City Event; Sponsor can hand out information but applicants will need to
contact the Recreation Dept. to register.
c. Jay will get with Della to make list
d. Faye suggested a banner at AITP
e. Thus far need: Bocce Ball sets, Flyer; need to get on Social Media
f. Jay will work with T. Johnson for shirts, banner, water, gift bags
g. Registration Cost: Jay‐$20 pp to cover t‐shirts, lessons, prizes, lanes, sets,
water; Dawn seconded motion…Faye suggested $15 pp; Pam $10 pp/$40
per team of 4; Jay $20 team of 2 (potluck teams)/$40 per team of 4
h. Collect money day of event for late registrants
i. Registration suggested 8‐8:30 a.m.
j. Location: between 18th – 19th Streets
k. Faye motioned for $40 per team/$20 for pairings of 2, Dawn seconded;
all in favor of motion
d) Arts in the Park‐Recreation Staff/Pam White
a. Posters distributed – members to advise Recreation Dep’t of locations
b. 70 artists invited
c. Set up 8‐10 a.m.; color coded loading/unloading zones this year
d. Volunteers
i. T. Johnson will get with Faye for scheduling & Sheri Beno for
Fletcher High School students
ii. Jay recommended hiring Junk Hunks – they work on tips
iii. Committee Sign‐ In Sheet at next meeting
e. Entertainment:
i. Music – One stage, jazz acts with 3 groupings
ii. Magician for kids (concern for entertainment for kids last year)
iii. Caricature Artist hired for event
iv. Professional Face Painter hired for event
f. Labels on postcards at next month’s meeting
g. 4 Food Trucks
e) Well‐Being Wednesday – Timmy Johnson
a. Approval from Committee to start Tai Chi with Sherry Nicholson in
March if she gets back with T. Johnson
14. New Business
a. T. Johnson to send out current budget for review to discuss 2017‐18 fiscal year.
15. Next Meeting‐March 28, 2017 @ 6 pm
16. Adjournment – with no further business, Jay motioned for adjournment, Dawn seconded the motion to
adjourn the meeting. The meeting was unanimously adjourned at 6:44 p.m.

The purpose of the Cultural Arts and Recreation Advisory Committee is to propose, plan,
promote, and review artistic, recreational, and cultural programs, exhibits, and projects for the
citizens of Atlantic Beach. The committee members are appointed by the City of Atlantic
Beach Commission.
