AGENDA ITEM: Extension of Lift Station SCADA Contract

BACKGROUND: The central SCADA system has been installed at the water and wastewater
plants, and on August 23, 2004, the City Commission awarded a contract to Control Design, Inc.
for installing the SCADA system at 12 of the 291ift stations. On October 11, 2004, the
Commission authorized an extension of the contract to include an additional 9 lift stations that
were budgeted for the FYOS budget year.
Installation of SCADA at the 21 lift stations is nearly complete. There are l O lift stations
' remaining that were going to be budgeted for FY06. However, one of the projects budgeted
(Mayport Sewer Crossings) will be under budget, and staff would like to use these funds to take
advantage of the good pricing in the existing contract with Control Design to finish the Lift
Station SCADA in the current year.
The bid unit casts per lift station were:

BUDGET: The total of $SS,SSO is available for Lift Station SCADA in the Sewer Fund in
account number 410-SS06-S3S-6300. The funds will be transferred from the Mayport Road
Sewer Crossings Project to the Lift Station SCADA project.
RECOMMENDATION: Extend Control Design, Inc.'s contract for Lift Station SCADA to
include ten additional lift stations at a cost of $SS,SSO.
