The meeting was called to order by Mayor-Commissioner, Mr. Howell, and
immediately went into session as a Canvassing Board to receive the
Certificate of Results from the Election Officials covering the Primary
Election of City Officials for Commission Seat No. 1, Seat No. 4 and
Seat No. 5. Copies of the Certificate of Results of the Primary of
October 4, 1977 were presented to the Board by Mayor Howell and the
City Clerk.
Mayor Howell presented Resolution No. 77-12 certifying the results of
the Primary Election of the City of Atlantic Beach, Florida, held
Tuesday, October 4, 1977.

WHEREAS, the Inspectors and the Clerk of the Primary Election held
in Atlantic Beach, Florida, on October 4, 1977, for the purpose of
electing a Mayor-Commissioner for Seat #1, and two Commissioners
for Seats #4 and #5, canvassed the votes cast and did make the
returns on the same in words as follows:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That it is hereby unanimously voted
that said returns be accepted as reported and
That it is hereby found and determined by the City Commission of
Atlantic Beach, Florida, acting in the capacity of a Canvassing
Board that the qualified voters who participated in said Primary
Election cast their votes in favor of the following candidates as
follows:
SEAT NO. 1, MAYOR-COMMISSIONER, William S. Howell Elected
SEAT NO. 4, COMMISSIONER, L. W. Minton, Jr. Elected
SEAT NO. 5, COMMISSIONER, Catherine Van Ness Elected
It is further found and determined that the above named candidate
for Seat No. 1 is duly elected to serve for two years, and it is
further found that the above named candidates for Seats #4 and #5
are each duly elected to serve for four years.
And be it further resolved that all candidates be and are hereby
commended for the dignified manner in which their campaigns were con-
ducted in said election.
