Tucker, City Clerk The meeting was called to order by Mayor-Commissioner, Mr. Howell. The invocation was given by Commissioner Cook followed by the pledge to the flag. Approval of the minutes of March 14 , 1977. Motion: That the minutes of the Regular Howell X City Commission Meeting of March 14 , Cook XX 1977 be approved as submitted. Jensen X Minton X X * * * * * * * * * * Recognition of Visitors The chair recognized Mr. Tom Crowder, representing the Beaches Council on Aging, who stated that he wished to propose a bus route in Atlantic Beach for the elderly and handicapped. After a brief discussion, the Mayor suggested that Mr. Crowder confer with the City Attorney, Mr. Ball, and determine any requirements that had to be met to implement the proposed bus service. Mayor Howell , also stated that if further Commission action appears necessary, that the matter be again brought before the City Commission at its next meeting. • Report of City Manager Mr. Vogel requested verbal permission to purchase three radios at a cost of approximately $650 each for use in • three fire engines. He stated that the radios now in use were purchased in 1958 and have been a source of monthly repair expenses. Motion: Authorize Mr. Vogel to proceed with Howell X the purchase of three radios at the Cook X X approximate cost of $650 each. Jamboree Club Condemnation Mr. Jensen was asked to report on the status of the Jamboree Club condemnation. Mr. Jensen reported that Mr. Ball had been contacted by Mrs . Gregg, holder of first mortgate, and some of the holders of subsequent mortgages. It was Mr. Jensen' s opinion that in order to force actions by interested parties to abate the nuisance, the City should ask for bids for cleaning up, boarding up, and sealing the building. Motion: The City ask fol bids for the Howell X purpose of sealing and cleaning Cook X X up the Jamboree Club. Jensen X X Minton X * * * * * * * * * * B. American National Bank P.U.D. - Public Hearing Mr. Jensen reported that the Advisory Planning Board had ruled favorably on this request; that the Planning Board reported that development was the highest and best use of the land (located between BAC and Fox Gardens) . Motion: That the proposed project be Howell X placed under P.U.D. and that a Cook X X Public Hearing be held on Jensen ' X X April 25, 1977 . Minton X * * * * * * * * * * C. Request for P.U.D. - Four-Unit Apartment Mayor Howell pointed out that this was a request for P.U.D. at the corner of Ahern Street and Ocean Boule- vard. Ordinance No. 70-77-7 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 1 OF ORDINANCE NO. 70-72-6, (SECTION 8-14, CODE OF THE CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH, FLORIDA. ) Said Ordinance was presented in full, in writing, and read in its entirety on third and final reading by Mayor Howell, who opened the Public Hearing on the Ordinance. After there being no questions or comments , Mayor Howell declared the Public Hearing closed. Motion: Said Ordinance be adopted on third Howell X and final reading. Notice of Open House - April 22-23-24 by Advisory Planning Board Mr. Vogel reported to the Commission that this Open House is in line with requirements of the City' s Comprehensive Plan; that flyers have been printed and a press release prepared; that the Open House will be on Friday afternoon, April 22 , all day Saturday, April 23 , and Sunday afternoon, April 24, for the purpose of acquainting the citizens with the Comprehensive Plan and to obtain citizen input.
