CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH
HELD AT THE CITY HALL ON MONDAY, JUNE 19 , 1978
AT 8 : 30 P.M.
PRESENT: William S. Howell, Mayor
Alan C. Jensen
Catherine Van Ness, Commissioners
AND: Bill M. Davis, Acting City Manager
Oliver C. Ball, City Attorney
Cynthia H. Hutchinson, Acting City Clerk
ABSENT: James E. Mhoon, Commissioner
L. W. Minton, Jr. , Commissioner
Adelaide R. Tucker, City Clerk
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Howell. He announced that the
meeting was called to appoint a City Manager.
Commissioner Van Ness was recognized by Mayor Howell. She stated that
the Committee as a Whole had met and has recommended that Bill M. Davis
be appointed by the City Commission for the position of City Manager .
The following motion was made by Commissioner Van Ness:
Motion: That the City Commission appoint Mr. Bill M. Davis
City Manager of the City of Atlantic Beach.
The motion was seconded by Commissioner Jensen and passed unanimously.
Mayor Howell stated that Commissioner Mhoon had left on vacation but
had asked him to inform the Commission that if he could have attended
the meeting he would have cast his vote for Bill M. Davis. Mayor Howell
also announced that Commissioner Minton had called earlier in the
afternoon from Tampa and asked him to tell the Commission that he also
would have cast his vote for Bill M. Davis had he been able to attend
the meeting. Mayor Howell stated that if all the Commissioners had been
in attendance the vote would have been unanimous to appoint Mr. Bill
M. Davis as City Manager.
There being no further business , the Mayor declared the meeting adjourned.
