Commissioner Waters thanked the voters of Atlantic Beach for their
support in the recent election and pledged to represent every
section of the city. He thanked Karen Wolfson and Mayor Gulliford,
who, he said, were partly responsible for his entering into public
life, and the election workers who helped with their time and
talents in his election campaign. He hoped during his tenure he
would see Atlantic Beach become a more beautiful place with more
sidewalks and bike paths, the development of the town center, and
greater development of the city's parks.
Mayor Gulliford said that one of the nice things about the Atlantic
Beach City Commission was that members could differ in their
positions regarding matters before the body, but behavior was
always professional and cordial and the members remained friends
and respected each other's differences. He said it was important
to set aside personal bias and prejudices when making decisions.
