Mayor Howell called the meeting to order for the purpose of discussing
the health insurance for the City of Atlantic Beach. He then turned
the floor over to Mr. Davis, the City Manager. Mr. Davis explained that
the present insurance program expires at 12:01 and the Commission should
take action to either renew the present program or accept the coverage
offered by the Florida Municipal Health Trust Fund. He pointed out that
the City would save $4.41 per employee, and on the family coverage there
will be a savings of $5.30 per family by going with Florida Municipal
Health Trust Fund, at the same provisions the present group plan provides.
Mr. Davis added that the Florida Municipal Health Trust Fund does not
have an experience rating as yet, so the figures may fluctuate slightly.
He advised receipt of a telegram from the Florida Municipal Health Trust
Fund stating the City will be covered as of 12:00 A.M. , November 1, 1980.
A discussion followed on the benefits of each plan.
