The meeting was called to order by Mayor-Commissioner Persons, and
immediately went into session as a Canvassing Board to receive the
Certificate of Results from the election officials covering the Primary
Election of City Officials for Commission Seats 1, 2 and 3. Copies of
the Certificate of Results of the primary election of October 4, 1983
were presented to the Board by Mayor Persons and the City Clerk.
Mayor Persons presented Resolution 83-17 certifying the results of the
Primary Election of the City of Atlantic Beach, Florida held on Tuesday,
October 4, 1983.

The motion carried unanimously. Copy of Resolution 83-17 Morris x
is attached hereto and made a part hereof. Persons x x

There being no further business to come before the Commission, Commis-
sioner Gulliford moved to adjourn, seconded by Commissioner Morris. The
motion carried unanimously.
Mayor Persons declared the meeting adjourned at 8:17 p.m.

WHEREAS, the Inspectors and Clerks of the Primary Election held in Atlantic
Beach, Florida, on October 4, 1983 for the purpose of electing a Mayor-Com-
missioner for Seat #1, and two Commissioners for Seats X12 and #3 canvassed
the votes cast and did make the returns on the same in words as follows:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that it is hereby unanimously voted
that said returns be accepted as reported and
That it is hereby found and determined by the City Commission of Atlantic
Beach, Florida, acting in the capacity of a Canvassing Board that the
qualified voters who participated in said Primary Election cast their votes
in favor of the following candidates as follows:
SEAT NO. 1, MAYOR-COMMISSIONER, William S. Howell ELECTED
SEAT NO. 2, COMMISSIONER, Robert B. Cook, Sr. ELECTED
SEAT NO. 3, COMMISSIONER, John W. Morris, Jr. ELECTED
It is further found and determined that the above named candidate for Seat #1
is duly elected to serve for two years, and it is further found that the above
named candidates for Seats #2 and #3 are each duly elected to serve for four
years and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that all candidates be and are hereby commended for
the dignified manner in which their campaigns were conducted in said election.
