10-17-61 v MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE ATLANTIC BEACH CITY'
COMMISSION HELD AT THE CITY HALL ON TUESDAY, OCTOBER 17th,
1961 AT 8 P.M.

The meeting was ca] led to order by the Mayor-Commissioner, Mr.
Howell, and immediately went into session as a Canvassing
Board to receive the report of the Election Officials covering
the 1961 General Election (run-off) . Copies of the Certificates
of Result of the General Election of October 17th, 1961 were
presented to the Commission by the Mayor and the City Clerk.
Resolution # 61-32 was read by Mayor Howell, whereupon Dr.
Whitehurst moved the adoption of' said Resolution acoepting the
report of the Election Officials , seconded by Mr. Johansen
and having been duly considered the Mayor put the question
thereon and the motion was unanimously carried. Whereupon the
Mayor declared said Resolution # 61-32 adopted and the follow-
ing official duly elected for a four year term:
Seat # 5 - C.B. Lawrence, Jr.
Copy of Resolution /, 61-32 is attached to these minutes and
made a part thereof.
There beitg no further business the Mayor declared the meeting
adjourned.

WHEREAS, the Inspectors and the Clerk of the General Election
head in Atlantic Beach, Florida on October 17, 1961 for the
purpose of electing a Commissioner for S'eat #5 canvassed the
votes cast and did make the returns on the same in words as
follows:

We, the Undersigned, being the Inspectors and Clerk appointed
to conduct the General Election in the City of Atlantic Beach,
on Tuesday, October 17th, 1961, for the purpose of electing a
commissioner for Seat 05, hereby certify that we conducted
said election on said date, and counted the ballots and find
the results to be as follows:
The number of qualified voters, according to the Registration

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, That it is hereby unanimously voted
that said returns be accepted as reported,
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED and it is hereby found and determined
by the City Commission of Atlantic Beach, Florida, acting in the
capacity of a Canvassing Board, that a majority of the qualified
voters, who participated in said General Election cast their
votes in favor of the above candidate as follows:

candidate is duly elected to serve for the next four years.
