COMMISSION HELD AT THE CITY HALL ON MONDAY, JUNE 17 , 1963,
AT 5:30 P. M.

Absent: Frank Thompson, City Attorney
This meeting was called pursuant to the rules governing special
meetings.
The meeting was called to order by the Mayor-Commissioner, Mr.
Isaacs.
Mr. Isaacs presented an Ordinance in writing regulating tax on
cigarettes and fixing rates, etc. , for consideration by the Com-
mission. Mr. Lawrence moved that the rules be wiaved and that
said Ordinance be considered on first reading by title only,
seconded by Mr . Johansen and the call vote was:
Aye: Claiborne, Johansen, Lawrence, Moore, Isaacs
Nay: None
Mr . Isaacs next read the title of said Ordinance, whereupon Mr.
Moore moved that the Ordinance relating to tax on cigarettes and
fixing rates thereon be passed on first reading by title only,
seconded by Mr. Claiborne and the call vote was:
Aye: Johansen, Lawrence, Moore, Claiborne, Isaacs
Nay: None
whereupon the Mayor declared the motion carried and said Ordinance
passed on first reading by title only. Public Hearing on this
Ordinance was set for June 24th, 1963, at 8:00 P. M.
There was a lengthy discussion on the signing of checks and it
was agreed that some study should be given to the Resolution as
to spelling out who should co-sign checks with the Treasurer and
under what conditions.
There being no further business, t ayor dec%red the meeting
