09-30-37 v MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE ATLANTIC BEACH CITY COMMISSION HELD AT THE CITY HALL SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 30, 1967 AT 8:00 A. M. Present: William S. Howell, Mayor-Commissioner John W. Weldon Donald L. Goodling Louis C. Holloway, Jr. W. J. Parks, Jr. , Commissioners and Oliver W. Ball, Acting City Attorney R. C. Vogel, Acting City Manager Adele S. Grage, City Clerk The meeting was called in line with provisions of City Charter. The meeting was called to order by the Mayor-Commissioner, Mr. Howell. Bids were received on accidental death insurance for fireman and policemen as outlined in Florida Statutes #67-443 and #67-408 as follows: Avery & Wilson, Inc. $210.00 Columbus Mutual Life Ins. Co. 315.00 McNeill Insurange Agency 227 . 50 Nationwide Insurance Co. - (Blanding Insurance Agency) 175.00 Nationwide Insurance Co. - (Glenn R. Haggerty, Agent) 175. 00 The above bids for 15 months ' period.. There were no bids for 3 months ' period. Mr. Goodling moved a 10 minute recess be taken to tabulate and consider the bids as received, seconded by Mr. Weldon and carried. The Mayor declared a ten minute recess following which the meeting reconvened. Mr. Parks moved that in consideration of fact that we received two bids of same amount, both being identical as low bids, the award be made to the first of these bids received which was the Nationwide Insurance Company, Glenn R. Haggerty, Agent, seconded by Mr. Holloway. Mr. Haggerty 's bid was received September 29, 1967 and the Blanding Insurance Agency bid was received at 7:30 A. M. , September 30th. The Mayor put the question and the motion was carried. Minutes 9/30/67 Page #2 There was inquiry as to political signs and it was noted that under the "sign" Ordinance #60-66-1, Section II, Paragraph A-13, that signs announcing candidacy of a candidate for public office cannot exceed 4 square feet in area and are limited to four locations within City for each candidate. Permission of property owner must be obtained in writing and filed with City manager, signs cannot be placed on public property, and must be removed within 72 hours after final election. The City Manager was instructed to carry out the provisions of the Ordinance. The City of Atlantic Beach Time Certificates of Deposit No. 1310 Utility Revenue Bond Fund in the amount of $27,714. 11, and No. 1311 Water System Renewal & Replacement Fund in the amount of $8,032.40, mature as of today, September 30, 1967 at the Atlantic National Bank. The City Clerk-Treasurer asked the Commission's instructions as to renewal. These certificates bear 41/2% interest, and the money in these water accounts must be deposited with Atlantic National Bank in line with Water Bond Ordinance #172. There was discussion following which Mr. Holloway moved that the above mentioned Time Certificates plus their interest be renewed at the Atlantic National Bank, seconded by Mr. Goodling and carried. Mr. Ball will handle these renewals for us at the Atlantic National Bank.
