CULTURAL ARTS AND RECREATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE
August 23,2005
A regular meeting of the Cultural Arts and Recreation Advisory Committee was held Tuesday,August 23,
2005,in the Adele Grage Cultural Center.Present were Ray Coleman,Chair Rusty Pritchett,Linda
Ginsberg,Alicia Paley,Kathy Love,Laurie Melancon,Ingrid McCawley,and Parks and Recreation
Director Timmy Johnson.
1. Call to Order
Chair Rusty Pritchett called the meeting to order at 7:02 p.m.
2. Approval of the Minutes of July 26.2005
A motion was made by Committee Member Ray Coleman,seconded by Committee Member
Linda Ginsberg to approve the minutes of July 26,2005.The motion carried unanimously.
3. Old Business
a) Events/Programs
i) Songwriter's Concert
The next event is scheduled for September 11.
ii) Acoustic Night
Rusty reported that this event had about 14 performers and approximately
S 80-90 people in attendance.
Art Festival
Linda reported that the date for Art in the Park is April 22. She
mentioned that we really need to get started advertising because this was
a problem last year. She will put together a letter with the City logo for
participants and advertising.
b) AB Public Art Committee Update
The Atlantic Beach Public Art Committee has taken the summer off.
c) Teen Council
Kathy reported the first meeting was last Tuesday,August 16. The Committee
began reorganizing and discussed planning a Spring Break Bash and a Skating
Competition.
4. New Business
a) Budget Update
Rusty reported that he and Laurie attended the budget meeting and went over the
Committee's budget with the Commission. The Commission encouraged the
Committee to consider all age groups when planning events.
5. Other
Linda informed the Committee that the Navy Band Wind Quartet has agreed to perform at the
Tree Lighting scheduled for December 3.
Ingrid will set a date for the Holiday Sing-a-long and will inform the Committee at the next

meeting.
S Laurie informed the Committee that she met with the Principal of Mayport Middle School to
talk about ways the City could assist the school with some of it's programs. The school has
had to reduce the number of enrichment programs from eight to two. Laurie will come up
with a plan,which will include a budget on ways the City can assist.
Laurie mentioned that the Committee should put together a calendar of events for the coming
year.This calendar would be good for keeping the City Commission up to date with what is
going on and advertising.
6. Adjournment
There being no other business or discussion;the meeting was adjourned at
7:33 p.m.
