CULTURAL ARTS AND RECREATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE
July 26,2005
A regular meeting of the Cultural Arts Committee and Recreation Advisory Committee was held Tuesday,
July 26,2005,in the Adele Grage Cultural Center. Present were Ray Coleman,Chair Rusty Pritchett,
Linda Ginsberg,Alicia Paley,Kathy Love,Margie Reeves,and Parks and Recreation Director Timmy
Johnson. Absent were Ingrid McCaNtley and Laurie Melancon.
1. Call to Order
Chair Rusty Prichett called meeting to order at 7:00 P.M
2. Approval of the Minutes of June 28,2005
Committee Member Rusty Pritchett mentioned that the date for the minutes needs to be
corrected and that there were 15 performers at the Songwriter's event instead of 45.
A motion was made by Committee Member Ray Coleman,seconded by Committee
Member Linda Ginsberg to approve the minutes of June 28,2005 as amended. The
motion carried unanimously.
3. Old Business
a) Events/Programs
i) Songwriter's Concert
Timmy reported that the last event had 55-60 people in attendance
and about 8 performers.
ii) Acoustic Night
This event had more than 100 people in the audience and 16
performers(plus Shack). The format has been adjusted so that all
performers get an opportunity to perform.
iii) Fun Run
Timmy reported that the Fun Run was a huge success.There were 80
participants. A thank you go out to all that volunteered.
iv)Art Festival
Linda mentioned she needed to get with Timmy for a date. It was
discussed to hold the event the last Saturday in April. Rusty thought
that there would be a conflict with the date due to the Opening of the
Beaches. Linda and Timmy would come up with a date and present
it at the next meeting.
b) AB Public Art Committee Update
Ray reported that he was out of town and will attend the next meeting and report in
August.
c) Teen Council
Kathy reported that Teen Council took the summer off and the next event will be the
Surf Contest in October.
