Coleman, Dylan Goelz, Steve Piscitelli, Chair Rusty Prichett, Laurie Melancon and Parks
and Recreation Director Timmy Johnson. James Woodruff and Linda Ginsberg were

2. Approval of Minutes of February 22,2005
A motion was made by Committee Member Ray Coleman, seconded by
Committee Member Steve Piscitelli to approve the minutes of February 22,2005.
The motion carried unanimously.
3. Old Business
a) Fountain Request
The committee discussed a request from citizen, Michael Hoffman,to install
and maintain a fountain in the pond between West 4th and 5th Street. After
discussion, the committee decided to invite Michael to the May meeting to
make a presentation.
b) Events/Programs
i) Songwriter's Concert
Steve informed the committee that the past two months have been
really great. At the last event, we had a surprise guest—Larry
Mangum a local artist that has been performing for about 30-40
years. The next event will be held June 5.
ii) Acoustic Night
The event in March had approximately 90 people in attendance and
the April event had about 60. Steve mentioned as of May 15,the
event will be held from 6-8 p.m., which has been a more popular
time. The revised dates have been submitted and the times are
okay. The idea of extending the hours was suggested, but Steve
fills the current time is best.
iii) Art Festival
The UNF Art Show will be on display at the same time and the
students will be present during the festival. There are 12 artists
signed up to participate and the event is booked. Laurie discussed
the kids' tables having face painting, making Mother's Day cards
and butterflies. The Teen Council will be available to assist at the
festival.
iv) Teen Scholarship
James was not present to give an update. It was mentioned that he
will be moving and will resign from the committee. This item will
be removed from the agenda.
b) Atlantic Beach Public Art Committee Updates
Ray mentioned that the City received a manatee that was donated and
placed in Russell Park. He also mentioned the possibility of coming up
with a trademark item and purchasing five of those items to place
throughout the City, a sea turtle, palm tree or whatever. This is just an
ideal that Ray will present to the Art Committee and come back to the
Recreation Committee for approval.
c) Teen Council Update
Dylan mentioned the possibility of combining the Concert in the Park with the
Skate Park Opening. Timmy informed him that with the skate park opening,
baseball and the ribbon cutting for the bike path, that might not be a good
idea. Dylan also reported that the Teen Council elected new officers and
reviewed the essays for the scholarship. The new Vice President, Katherine
Love will attend the next meeting.
4. New Business
a) New Year's Eve Event
Steve presented the committee with a draft proposal of the Atlantic Beach
New Year's Celebration for review. It was mentioned that Steve chairs
several events and that another committee member should chair this event.
Steve mentioned that Hope Clayton might be willing to assist, but probably
not chair the event. The committee decided to change the fee from $75 to
$50 a couple and that 50 attendees make for a good event. Steve will put
together all the information and bring it to the next meeting.
