CULTURAL ARTS AND RECREATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE
February 22,2005
A regular meeting of the Cultural Arts and Recreation Advisory Committee was held Tuesday,February
22,2005,in the Adele Grage Cultural Center. Present were Ray Coleman,Linda Ginsberg,Dylan Goelz,
Steve Piscitelli,Chair Rusty Pritchett,Laurie Melancon and Parks and Recreation Director Timmy
Johnson. James Woodruff and Ingrid McCawley were absent. Paul Parsons was a visitor.
1. Call to Order
Chair Rusty Pritchett called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
2. Approval of Minutes of January 25,2005
Rusty Pritchett stated that the word"Art"should be Park in item 3c.
A motion was made by Committee Member Ray Coleman,seconded by Committee Member
StevePritchett to approve the minutes of January 25,2005 as amended. Carried unanimously.
3. Old Business
a)Events/Programs
i) Songwriter's Concert
Steve Piscitelli stated that the event was held on February 13 and there were 28
people in attendance,which was another great night of performances. The email
list has increased to 40-50 people. The next event will be held March 6. Steve
also informed the committee that this is the third season for the Acoustic Night
event and the next event is scheduled for March 20 from 4-6 PM.
ii) Fun Run
Steve presented the committee with a Fun Run flyer and mentioned that the
event will be held July 24 at 6 PM,starting at the Atlantic Beach Lifeguard
Building. Timmy will get the flyers copied and we will start marketing the
event. Dylan will get the Teen Council to assist with the event. Steve presented
Timmy with an article for the Tideviews newsletter.
iii) Art Festival Updates
Linda requested that committee members pass out flyers throughout the
community. Timmy mentioned that information has gone out to the Shorelines,
Folio and Beaches Leaders as well as three locations that James contacted.
Laurie is assisting with the kids' activities and Dylan agreed that he would get
the Teen Council to help with activities at the festival.
iv) Teen Scholarship
James will give an update at the next meeting
b) Atlantic Beach Public Art Committee Updates
Paul Parsons updated the committee on the status of the ABPAC. Paul
presented the committee with three pieces of art that are examples of what may
be displayed at five points. They would also like to be a part of the Art Festival,
possibly holding a raffle with a variety of prizes from local vendors. It is
suggested to contact local artists to gather a collection of different pieces to
possibly be displayed_ A briquette could be purchased for about$10,000 and
the funds would come from the ABPAC funds and fundraising. The City
Commission will have the final say on the artwork displayed.

c) Teen Council Update
Dylan mentioned that the Teen Council has scheduled the following events:
• March 12 Teen Car Wash 9 AM(Walgreens)
• March 13 Teen Acoustic Night 4-6 PM(Bull Park)
• April 16 Scholarship Essay Due
• May 1 Concert in the Park 1-5 PM(Russell Park)
Dylan mentioned that they will need a stage for the Concert in the Park event and Timmy
mentioned having the Police Explorers at the event.
4. New Business
a) New Year's Eve Event
Steve presented the committee with some information on coordinating a New Year's Eve
event at Adele Grage. Steve proposes to have a theme party to include music,beer and
wine with a bartender,light food and Laurie suggested selling tickets at$50 per person.
A deadline is set for July/August to have the event planned. Steve will put together all
the information and send it out with the minutes for discussion at the next meeting.
6) Adjournment
Chair Pritchett reminded everyone that the next meeting would be held on March 22.
There being no other business or discussion,the meeting was adjourned at 7:50 p.m.
