CULTURAL ARTS AND RECREATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE
October 26,2004
A regular meeting of the Cultural Arts and Recreation Advisory Committee was held Tuesday,October
26,2004, in the Adele Grage Cultural Center. Present were Katherine Burgess,Ray Coleman, Linda
Ginsberg,Dylan Goelz,Parks and Recreation Director Timmy Johnson,Ingrid McCawley, Steve
Piscitelli,Chair Rusty Pritchett, and James Woodruff. Administrative Assistant Athena Shearer was
absent. Sarah Boren was a visitor.
1. Call to Order
Chair Rusty Pritchett called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
2. Approval of Minutes of September 28,2004
Steve Piscitelli stated that the last sentence in item 3(a)(ii)should be"Timmy Johnson stated that the
committee had already budgeted this event for 2004-2005 and they decided to continue the event for 12
months reviewing each month." Rusty stated that the meeting was adjourned at 7:46 p.m. instead of
8:46 p.m.
A motion was made by Committee Member Coleman,seconded by Committee Member Ginsberg
to approve the minutes of September 28,2004 as amended.Carried unanimously.
3. Old Business
a)Events/Programs
i) Acoustic Night Under the Stars:
Steve Piscitelli announced that the last event for this season was October 10,2004 and
that the next event would be March 20th at 4:00 p.m.
ii) Songwriter's Concert:
Steve Piscitelli stated that the event was on October 24,2004 and they had the best one
yet with 7 performances and 25 people. The next event was scheduled for November 7th,
then December 5th from 6:00 p.m.to 8:00 p.m.
b) Public Art Fact Finding Committee Updates
Ray Coleman did not attend the last meeting.
c) Teen Council
Dylan Goelz,Vice President,reported that they had their 5th annual Surf Contest. They
ended up not having enough food for the 75-80 people that showed up. There were between
20-30 contestants. Eric Ram won the men's division. Ingrid McCawley reminded him of the
Holiday Sing-a-long event in December.
d) Family Fun Day
Katherine Burgess reported that she would combine it with the City's Camp Out event in the
spring. She stated that the Senior Appreciation Day event was post poned until the spring as
well.
e) Art Festival Update
Linda Ginsberg asked for any changes or corrections to the forms she made for the event.
Timmy Johnson stated that anyone interested in applying for the event should contact the
Parks&Recreation office. Katherine and possibly Ray would work on the Host committee.
James would work with Athena on Marketing. Dylan would work with the Teen Council on

helping with the drinks. Timmy stated that there would be space for about 12 booths. Linda
suggested having the event on May 7th
.
4. New Business
Sarah Boren was a visitor representing the"Green Team Project"Environmental group. She
explained what the group does and requested use of Adele Grage for workshops once or twice
a month. She requested a waiver of the use fee and publicity in the City newsletter. She
stated that they do charge people a$25.00 fee for the workshop to cover their costs, but the
organization is not-for-profit. Rusty reminded the committee that they did offer a 50%
reduction for the fee to non-profit organizations such as homeowner's associations and he
recommended giving her a reduction.
A motion was made by Committee Member Coleman,seconded by Committee Member
McCawley,to approve the use of gilding by"Green Team Project"with a 50%
reduction in the fees. Ala Groje.
Chair Pritchett stated that the Committee has an opening to fill. Timmy Johnson stated that
the City Manager wanted to put an article in the newsletter to get more applicants as there
were only 2 to choose from at this time.
Committee Member McCawley asked how soon she needed to get information out for
"Caroling in the Park". Timmy Johnson suggested getting it in as soon as possible.
5. Adjournment
Chair Pritchett reminded everyone that the next meeting would be a Special Meeting on
December 14,2004. There being no other business or discussion,the meeting was adjourned
at 7:45 p.m.
