AGENDA ITEM: Status of the Dutton Island Expansion Project formally
known as the Centex Property

BACKGROUND: In 1999, the City Commission agreed to maintain the
Dutton Island Expansion property. The property is
currently in the design phase and construction should take
place sometime next year. Once complete, the City of
Jacksonville will expect the City of Atlantic Beach to
maintain the property. The park will consist of the
following: a parking area, trails, picnic areas, overlooks
with benches, interpretive signs and a chain link fence.
BUDGET: Staff estimates the cost to maintain this park is $5,000 per
year. This estimate is for regular maintenance only; tree
trim, open and closing and cleaning.
RECOMMENDATION: None at this time
