AGENDA ITEM: Concrete Repairs for the Public Works/Utilities Department

BACKGROUND: The City's awarded a contract for concrete repairs to United
Services Connection, Inc. effective March 1, 2005. Because
of issues with response times and work quality, the City
terminated that contract effective August 15, 2005. Bid
number 0405-26 was opened on August 25th, 2005 at 3:00
PM. There was one bidder, Gruhn May,lnc. (also the City's
water, sewer and storm sewer Point Repair contractor).
Gruhn May's bid rates were essentially identical to those of
United Services Connection.
RECOMMENDATION: Award the contract to Gruhn May, Inc. for one year starting
September 1, 2005.
BUDGET: Most repairs for this contract are funded as point repairs
from either 001-5002-541.34-00 - $10,000.00 (Streets), 470-
0000-538.34-00 - $6,000.00 (Stormwater), or 400-5504-
533.34-00 - 5,000.00 (Water Distribution).
