AGENDA ITEM: Hurricane Debris Removal (Vegetative Waste) &
Hurricane Debris Removal (Construction & Demolition /Mixed)

BACKGROUND: On September 28, 2005, the City received opened sealed bids for two
separate bids:
Bid #0405-15: Hurricane Debris Removal (Ve etative) -- This bid is to provide green waste
removal for the City to expedite clean up of vegetative debris resulting from severe weather.
Bid #0405-28: Hurricane Debris Removal (Construction & Demolition /Mixed) -This bid is to
provide removal for construction /mixed waste debris (C&D) resulting from severe weather.
Both bids require the successful bidder to meet with City Representative within 48 hours of
notification to discuss plan of attack and schedule, and then to begin first debris removal within
48 hours of that meeting. The City reserves the right to renew to contract for two 1-year periods.

BUDGET: This contract would be executed on an emergency / as needed basis. No
funds are appropriated in advance for hurricane debris cleanup.
RECOMMENDATION: Award the contract to Custom Tree Service, the low bidder and
also a local (Jacksonville) contractor. Custom Tree Service has the
necessary equipment assets and experience to provide immediate response
to the City in case of need.
