BACKGROUND: Due to heightened security required by the events of September 11, 2002,
fencing improvements are needed at the water and sewer treatment facilities. In some areas,
existing fence in poor condition will be replaced, and in others new fence will be added.
Bids were advertised and three contractors submitted bids:
Bestcon Fence, Inc. George P. Coyle &
Sons, Inc. Grading & Bush Hog
Services, Inc.
Sub-total $35,264.51 $43,214.20 $44,542.60
10% Contin ency $3,526.45 $4,321.42 $4,454.26
Total $38,790.96 $47,535.62 $48.996.86
The low bidder for the project is Bestcon Fence, Inc.
BUDGET: A total of $60,000 was budgeted for security fencing improvements in the Water
and Sewer Funds under account nos. 400-5502-533-6300 and 410-5508-535-6300.
RECOMMENDATION: Awazd the contract for Security Treatment Fencing at Treatment
Plants, Bid No. 0304-4 to Bestcon Fence, Inc. in the amount of $38,790.96.
