The purpose of this memorandum is to address the following(7) framing and metal tie down
related items:
1. The 2x6 conventionally framed rafters at the garage roof were specified to lap and nail to
each T05 /TO5V truss top chord minimum 30". The rafters do not lap the adjacent truss
top chord as specified,the following is required as an alternative:
a. 2x6 rafters are installed at max 24"on center adjacent to T05 /TO5V roof trusses
b. Each 2x6 rafter fully bears on the interior roof load bearing kneewall.
c. Each 2x6 rafter is independently attached to the interior roof load bearing kneewall
with TLOK06, HA4, or H2.5t.
2. Gable end roof truss bottom chords are anchored to the wall double top plate for uplift
with MSTA12 flat straps @ max 48"o.c. per the Gable Angle Bracing Detail "Bl", ST-6.
An acceptable alterative for this connection is TLOK06 or SDWC15600 screws @ max
48"o.c.
3. As we understand a+/-24"wide scuttle hole access to access an adjacent HVAC
mechanical platform has been framed into Bedroom 3 walk in closet wall below gable end
roof truss above. A (2)2x6 header with (I)jack/(1) king has been framed at the header.
This impacts the original lateral load wind design essentially shortening the SW2 shear
wall specified on ST-4 of the structural plan set. Consequently the SW2 will terminate at
the front side of the opening toward the front side of the home in lieu of extending to the
corner as originally planned. Please provide QTG adjacent or strap the jack/king studs to
Beam B02 below per table 8, ST-1.
4. As we understand a QTO was not able to be installed as SW3 overturning anchorage in
the exterior wall adjacent to the master shower. A 5/8"rigid all thread rod was installed
as an alternative. This is acceptable pending the following:
a. 5/8"all thread is drilled&epoxied w/min 6" embed with 3" square x ''A"thick
washer and nut at top. All thread is tightened to 30 ft-lb torque and re-tightened
after initial installation. All thread must be re-tightened after roof cladding is

complete and HVAC is operable an has run for multiple days to compensate for
any shrinkage in the lumber materails.
5. All porch trusses can•be anchored to beams w/SDWC15600 or TLOK06 per
manufacturers installation recommendations.
6. An alterative to the(3)2x6 SYP Plank Oriented Header sill above the 12' sliding glass
door at the Dining/Covered porch is to frame a(3)2x12 SYP header vertically oriented
framed as a traditional header directly above the SGD frame. This header carries no
gravity load but acts as an out of plane wind beam to resist positive and negative wind
loads. The header should be supported w/minimum (1)jack/(1)king each end and
anchored to the framing per Notes 7A & 7B specified on plan.
7. At the roof load bearing wall separating the garage/laundry and front covered porch
electrical panels have been installed resulting in QTB spacing up to 63", we have
reviewed anticipated loading in this specific wall and conclude that no additional repair or
work is necessary. The spacing provided is sufficient.
