BACKGROUND: Double-diaphragm pumps are used in the distribution/collection system
during water/sewer system repairs, and to pump out manholes during periods of heavy rain and
infiltration. The bid was for two each four-inch pumps with sound attenuation.
Bids were advertised, and four vendors submitted bids on December 3, 2003. Vendors were
allowed to include atrade-in price for the City's existing non-functional pumps if they wished.

The low bidder for the pumps was Myers-Seth Pumps, Inc.
BUDGET: A total of $20,000 was budgeted for these pumps in the Sewer Fund in account
number 410-5506-535-6400.
RECOMMENDATION: Authorize staffto purchase two each 4-inch double diaphragm pumps
with sound attenuation from Myers-Seth Pumps, Inc. in the amount of $19,750.00.
