Resolution No. 18-15RESOLUTION NO. 18-15 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH ACCEPTING A DONATED PERGOLA AT TIDEVIEWS PRESERVE; APPROPRIATING AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEEED $1,500 FROM THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT PARKS ACCOUNT FOR THE PURPOSE OF CONSTRUCTING A CONCRETE BASE FOR THE PERGOLA; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE ANY CONTRACTS AS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THE PROVISIONS OF THIS RESOLUTION; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, John November, executive director of the Public Trust Environmental Legal Institute of Florida, is proposing that a pergola be constructed at Tideviews Preserve; WHEREAS, the proposed pergola project is a gazebo -like structure was designed by a local artist and would be a tribute to the former property owners, the Bennett family; WHEREAS, it is proposed that the City of Atlantic Beach fund the pergola's concrete base, which is estimated to cost about $1,000 and shall not exceed $1,500; WHEREAS, at its March 13, 2018 meeting, the Environmental Stewardship Committee unanimously voted to recommend that the City of Atlantic Beach accept the pergola at Tideviews Preserve; and WHEREAS, the use of the Public Works Street Parks Account (an amount not to exceed $1,500) and is appropriate for this purpose. NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Commission of the City of Atlantic Beach as follows: SECTION 1. The City Commission hereby agrees to accept the donation of a pergola at Tideviews Preserve. SECTION 2. The City Commission hereby appropriates an amount not to exceed $1,500 from the Public Works Department Parks Account for this purpose. SECTION 3. The City Manager is hereby authorized to execute the contract(s) and such purchase order(s) in accordance with and as necessary to effectuate the provisions of this Resolution. SECTION 4. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its passage and adoption. PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Commission of the City of Atlantic Beach, this 91' day of April, 2018. Dur ity Attorney RESOLUTION NO. 18-14 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE EXPENDITURES OF FUNDS FROM THE TREE CONSERVATION TRUST FUND FOR AN ARBOR DAY EVENT. WHEREAS, The Environmental Stewardship Committee recognizes the importance of Atlantic Beach's tree canopy and is committed to its protection; and WHEREAS, The Environmental Stewardship Committee created an Arbor Day Subcommittee to oversee the development of an 2018 Arbor Day event that includes outreach, education, and tree planting; and WHEREAS, The Environmental Stewardship Committee recommended the use of up to two thousand five hundred ($2,500.00) dollars for the use of funds/items purchased for the Arbor Day event from the Tree Conservation Fund; and WHEREAS, Section 23-14 of the Code of Ordinances requires that the use and distribution of Tree Conservation Trust Fund funds shall be designated by the City Commission; and NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Commission of the City of Atlantic Beach as follows: SECTION 1. The City Commission hereby authorizes the use of two thousand five hundred ($2,500.00) dollars from the Tree Conservation Trust Fund for an Arbor Day event; SECTION 2. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its passage and adoption.
