Exh 4BAGENDA ITEM 4B I'EBRUARY 10, 2003 CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH CITY COMMISSIONER MEETING STAFF REPORT ACTION REQUESTED: Approve continuation of contract with Labor Line to provide Temporary Employees for the City for an additional twelve (12) months. SUBMITTED BY: Donna L. Bussey, Human Resource Assistant DATE: February 3, 2003 BACKGROUND: There is often a need for a temporary employee to fill in for employees that maybe out due to medical reasons, to fill in for a vacant position while it is being filled, or to perform special projects. We previously bid these services and seven (7) temporary agencies responded to the bid. Using "weighted" total cost figures for four most commonly used categories, Labor Line was awarded the contract. Prior to utilizing a temporary employee, the Department Head must submit a written request. The Finance Director verifies funding is available and the City Manager approves or disapproves the request. During the last twelve (12) months, Labor Line was utilized for a total of two hundred (200) hours. BUDGET: There are no funds budgeted. Funding is normally from the salary account of the vacant position for which the temporary is being utilized. Labor Line has agreed to continue the contract for another year with no increase to the hourly bill rates. RECOMMENDATION: Recommend that the City Commission approve the continuation of contract with Labor Line for an additional twelve (12) months. CITY MANAGER:
