AGENDA ITEM: Atlantic Boulevard Medians and Town Center
Palm Tree Trimming

BACKGROUND: The City's current contract with American Landcare for palm tree
trimming of the Atlantic Boulevard Medians and Town Center
expires on Apri130, 2003. We have contacted Mr. Jim Wallace,
owner of American Landcare, and he has agreed to extend the
current contract for another year at the current price of $1,290.
($645. per trimming performed twice a year) for the medians, and
$12,096. ($6,048. per trimming performed twice a year) for Town
Center.
We have revised the requirements to state that trimming will not be
performed until the fronds are below 9:00 o'clock and 3:00
o'clock. As previously, trimming is not to be done until contractor
is notified by staff. The City has the option of extending the
current contract for two (2) one year periods, and this proposed
extension will be the second.
RECOMMENDATION: Extend the contract for one year, at the current prices.
ATTACHMENTS: Letter signed by Jim Wallace, owner of American Landcare,
agreeing to the extension.
BUDGET: Total budget for Fiscal Year 10/1/02-9/30/03 is $2,000 for Atlantic
Blvd. Medians in account 001-5002-541.34-00, and $13,000 for
Town Center in account 001-5002-541.34-02.

Dear Mr Wallace:
As you are aware, the contract with the City of Atlantic Beach for the Atlantic Boulevard
Medians and Town Center Palm tree Trimming- expires on April 30, 2003. We would like to
extend the contract for another year at the current prices, if this is acceptable to your company.
Please remember that we want them trimmed at 9:00 O'clock & 3:00 O'clock positions and do
not do :any work without a purchase order.
If acceptable, please sign below and -return to me before March 3 0, 2003; so I can prepare a staff
report for the City Commission to accept the extension.
We look forward to recommending that we continue our contract with your company.
