Subject: Public Art
This memo is to request concurrence of the City Commission to place upon the list of
possible expenditures from the Half Cent Sales Tax Funds an amount of money that can
be used for purchase and installation of large statutes and art around the City. During our
strategic planning discussions earlier this month, the Commission decided to hold a
workshop over the possible future use of the Half Cent Sales Tax Funds. I presented a
proposal for additional public art during those meetings. If funds were dedicated for this
purpose, the Cultural Arts and Recreation Committee could also be involved in making
recommendations about what and where the art would be located. I have some catalogs
showing various types of art that is available if anyone would like to see them.
