BACKGROUND:
At the April 14th, 2003 Commission Meeting, there were complaints of excessive speed
on 10th Street between Seminole Road and East Coast Drive. The police department
began atraffic/speed analysis on 10th Street on 4-18-03 to determine the situation. This
analysis was conducted from 4-18-03 to 4-29-03. During the analysis, 4982 vehicles
were tracked and their speeds monitored. Of the total number of vehicles tracked, not
one vehicle was traveling over 15 Miles Per Hour. This is a 20 Mile Per Hour speed
zone.
BUDGET: No budgetary impact
RECOMMENDATION:
The traffic/speed analysis does not show any excess speeding problem, however, the
police department will. monitor this area in the future to insure speeds to no increase as
the Core City Project progresses to completion.

Since the resurfacing of 10`h Street, cut through traffic has increased dramatically. We have also N
observed that vehicular traffic proceeds at speeds well above the posted limit of 20 mph. Our o ~
primary concern is for the safety and well being of the many small children and family pets that w ~
are threatened by speeding cars on this stretch of road. ~
