AGENDA ITEM: Annual Contract for Sewer Cleaning & Televising Sewer Lines in Excess

BACKGROUND: As part of the City's Sewer Master Plan, sewer mains are cleaned and
televised at various locations to determine where rehabilitation and repairs aze needed. This work
is typically scheduled in advance and requires cleaning and televising longer sections of lines in
excess of 5000 linear feet. Bids were advertised for this work, and on April 30, 2003, five bids
were received.

The low bidder was non-responsive, as they failed to provide the required documentation of a
certified debris disposal site. The second low bidder was Equitas Sewer Services, in the amount
of $1.35/LF. This price is competitive with the last annual contractor's cost ($1.25/LF) who
recently eliminated sewer televising from their available services.
BUDGET: A total of $30,000 was budgeted for sewer cleaning and televising and emergency
jetting and pumping in the Sewer Fund under account number 410-5506-533-3400.
RECOMMENDATION: Award the bid for Annual Contract for Sewer Cleaning & Televising
Sewer Lines in Excess of 5000 Linear Feet per Callout to Equitas Sewer Services at the rate of
$1.35 per linear foot.
