PUBLIC PLACES, OF THE ATLANTIC B1/ACH CODE OF ORDINANCES,
TO REGULATE T7TE INSTAI,LA.TION OF 7~C CAI.MII~TG
bEVICES, AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTJ.VE DATE.
BE IT ENACTID BY TAE CITY CONIlYIISSION ON BEHALF OF THE PEOPLE
OF THE CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1. The Code o£ Ordinances of the City of Atlantic Beach, Florida, is hereby
atxtended by adding a new section. tQ be numbered Seckion 19-5, which section shall xead as
.follows:
"Sec. 19-5. ZSraffic cstlming devices.
The City commission shad. take no action on the installation of any traffic
calming devices, such as speed bumps or stop signs, unless:
(1) The Atlantic Beach Folice Department, ar such other persaz~ as directed
by the Dixector of Public Safety, has conducted proper research aad declared the
area where such devices are requested to be inst<~lled a "traffic safety hazard area",
AND
(2) The installation of such devices axe expected to cozxect the situation in
said area"
SE ,TON 2. This OrdiuSaaace shall take effect immediately upon its final passage and
adoption.
