BACKGROUND: Work on the Core City Improvements Project on various streets
required that 5 items be added to the contract, all of which were
adjustments to original contract quantities with minor direct costs
added. The items were required due to existing utility conflicts and
incomplete information on the design plans. These items are
described in the Change Order Item Summary Sheets. The
proposed Change Order work for these items added 6 days to the
construction contract.
The total for Change Order #8, as summarized in the attached
documents, is $33,544.18, with a total of 6 days added to the
contract, and a grand total of 82 days added thru Change Order #8.
We will have expended 61 % of the contingency with this Change
Order, however only 60% of the contingency has. been expended
without the decorative crosswallcs which will be covered by other
funding at a later date. This percentage tracks well with the money
spent through monthly payments ending in Apri130, 2003, which
are 69% of the total project funds:
BUDGET: The original contingency amount, as approved by the Commission
is $627,623.09. The eight change orders will reduce the
contingency by $380,209.34 to $247,413.75.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve Change Order #8.
ATTACHMENTS: Two signed originals (one to be signed and returned to Contractor)
of Change Order #8 with Item Summary Sheets (3 pages total).

5. Other Items: Eight sanitary sewer services not shown in the plans are needed in order to
complete the sanitary sewer installation on 11t" Street. A conflict manhole was added on 8t"
Street to eliminate a conflict with an existing sanitary service. Direct costs shown are
