AGENDA ITEM: Byrne Grant Update

BACKGROUND:
At the previous city commission meeting, the commission authorized a grant application
for $120,000 to help fund a crime suppression unit in 2003-04. Since that time, an
additional $11,400 in funding has become available through the same grant process.
With commission approval, the grant application will be increased from $120,000 to
$131,400.
BUDGET: This will increase the federal grant funding $8,550, and it will increase the
city's matching obligation $2,850 in 2003-04.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
To authorize an increase in the Byrne Grant application by a total of $11,400 for 2003-
04.
