MEMORANDUM
TO: The Honorable Mayor
and Members of the City Commission
FROM: Jim Hanso
i y anager
SUBJECT: City Mana er's Report
Ocean Boulevard Sidewalks; A Commissioner requested staff to consider whether sidewalks on
the east side of Ocean Boulevazd could be widened to provide more room azound several utility
poles and, if so, how much it would cost. There aze several utility poles both in the middle of the
sidewalk and on the edge of the sidewalk, which obstruct pedestrian use. Adequate right-of--way
exists to widen the sidewalks at these locations and the total cost of the project would be $8,000.
Recreational Vehicle Violations; Staffwas also asked by.a Commissioner about whether the
changes to the setback requirements for boats in 2001 had any affect on City enforcement.
Attached is a month-by-month list of recreational vehicle violations, which includes mostly boats
but also some motor homes. While the report shows a significant increase in the number of
violations noted when the new Code Enforcement Officer began working in July 2000, there
does not appear to be any change in the number of citations issued following the change in the
ordinance dealing with the boat setbacks in November 2001.
