ORDINANCE NO. 75-03-15
AN ORDINANCE OF THE -CITY OF ATLANTIG BEACH, FLORIDA,
ING CHAPTER 19, STREETS, SIDEWALKS AND O
PUBLIC PLACES, OF THE ATLANTIC BEACH CODE OF ORDINANCES,
TO REGULATE THE INSTALLATION OF TRAFFIC CALNIING
DEVICES, AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE CITY CONIlVQSSION ON BEHALF OF -THE PEOPLE
OF THE CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH, .FLORIDA:
SECTION 1. The Code of Ordinances of the City of Atlantic Beach, Fl®riaa, is hereby
,amended by adding a new section..to be numbered Section 19-5, -which :section shall read as
follows:
"Sec. 19-5. Traffic. calming devices..
'The City commission shall take no .action on the installation. of .any. traffic
calming devices, such as speed bumps or stop signs, unless:
(1) The Atlantic Beach Police Department, or such other person as directed
by the Director of Public Safety, has conducted proper research and declared the
.area where" such devices .are requested to be installed. a "traffic safety hazard. area",
AND
(2) The installation of such devices are expected to correct the situation in
- said area"
.SECTION 2`. This Ordinance shall take effect. immediately upon its,. final passage and
adoption..
