A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH, FLORIDA
EXTENDING TO MARCH 31, 2019 THE TERMS OF CERTAIN MEMBERS OF
THE CODE ENFORCEMENT BOARD, COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
BOARD, THE PENSION BOARD OF TRUSTEES -GENERAL EMPLOYEES, THE
BOARD MEMBER REVIEW COMMITTEE AND THE CULTURAL ARTS &
RECREATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE; WAIVING THE PROVISIONS OF
SECTION 2-131(b) OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES AS MAY BE
APPLICABLE; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Board Member Review Committee is currently developing a set of
recommendations for the City Commission to streamline, standardize and coordinate membership, terms,
application and selection procedures and other matters related to board and committee membership; and
WHEREAS, the terms of certain members of several boards and committees of the City of
Atlantic Beach have expired or will expire in the near future; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission desires to receive, consider and implement such
recommendations as it deems appropriate prior to approving any long term appointments to the City's
various boards and committees; and
WHEREAS, to the extent applicable to the term extensions approved herein, the Commission
desires to waive the provisions of Section 2-131(b), prohibiting board and committee members from
serving for longer than the maximum number of consecutive terms.
NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Commission of the City of Atlantic Beach as
follows:
SECTION 1. Term Extensions. The following persons' terms on the specified boards and
committees are hereby extended through March 31, 2019:
a. Code Enforcement Board
1. Ben de Luna
2. Don Sasser
b. Community Development Board
1. Kelly Elmore
2. A. Brea Paul
3. Sylvia Simmons
C. Pension Board of Trustees — General Employees
1. Ray Brandstaetter (Commission appointee)

2. Marina Kaplan

SECTION 2. Waiver. The provisions of Section 2-131(b) of the Code of Ordinances, prohibiting
board and committee members from serving for longer than the maximum number of consecutive terms,
are hereby waived to the extent such prohibition may be applicable to any one or more term extensions
approved in Section 1 above.
SECTION 3. Effective Date. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon passage and
adoption.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Commission of the City of Atlantic Beach, this 134� day of
