Agenda Item: Beach Cleaning Annual Contract Bid No. 0001-21

Background: On July 11, 2001; bids were opened for Beach Cleaning in
Atlantic Beach fora 12-month period. Over the past two
years, Beachcombers has provided the City with Beach
Cleaning Services. They have demonstrated excellent
professionalism and knowledge in the area of beach
maintenance and care.
The City has spoken to Beachcombers regarding a contract
extension for one year at the current rates and they have
agreed. As per bid #0001-21: "The City reserves the right
to renew contracts fpr two additional one year periods
pending a mutual agreement between the City, the vendor
and a review of the contract performance by vendor for the
previous year»
Beachcombers has agreed to renew the current contract and
staff has been pleased with the performance of this
contract.
Budget: Under account number 001-6020-572-3400 (Park
Maintenance-Other Contractual Services) Beach Cleaning
Services provided at a cost of $35,800.00 per year.
Recommendation: Extend the Beach Cleaning Contract for one additional year
at the current vendor rates.

As you are awaze, the contract with the City of Atlantic Beach for Beach Cleaning
expires on July 31, 2003. We would like to extend the contract for another year
at current prices, if this is acceptable to your company. If acceptable, please sign
below and return to me before August 18, ,2003, so I can prepare a staff report for
the City Commission to accept the extension.
