AGENDA ITEM: MAINTENANCE AGREEMENT CONTRACT RENEWAL WITH
THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION (FDOT)

BACKGROUND: We have reviewed the new Maintenance Agreement for maintaining the
following azeas:
a) State Road 10 (Atlantic Boulevazd) -both sides, from Third Street to
Mayport Road, and the north side only from Mayport Road to the
Intracoastal Waterway Bridge, with the exception of the FDOT
retention pond. (The south side of Atlantic Blvd from Florida Blvd..
to the Intracoastal Waterway Bridge is included with Neptune Beach
Agreement with FDOT, except for the street sweeping which is
included in this agreement).
b) State Road 101/AlA (Mayport Road) -from Atlantic Boulevard to
Assisi Lane.
c) Flyover- azeas within Atlantic Beach, including the retention pond
on Mayport Road between West 4`s & West 5`" Street, and the
retention pond at the end of Begonia Street off of West ls` Street. The
sweeping of the flyover ramp will continue to be done by FDOT
crews.
d) Ditch between Sazatoga Circle North and Fon•estal Circle South -
from Mayport Road to Atlantic Boulevard through Aquatic Drive,
e) Ditch from Fleet Landing -running north-northwest along Mayport
Road, terminating at the salt marsh.
Maintenance work involves street sweeping, mowing, litter removal,
edging, tree trimming and pruning.
This Renewal Agreement is for (1) one yeaz beginning October 1, 2003
through September 30, 2004. The total annual amount, which the City of
Atlantic Beach receives from the FDOT for performance of this
maintenance, will be $50,000.00. This amount is the same as we received
last year.
RECOMMENDATION: We recommend approval of this Ageement and that the Commission
pass a Resolution for the new contract, as required by the FDOT.

RESOLUTION NO. 03-07
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH AUTHORIZING THE
MAYOR TO EXECUTE A MAINTENANCE CONTRACT BETWEEN THE CITY
OF ATLANTIC BEACH AND THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF
TRANSPORTATION, AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, on May 16, 2001, the City executed an agreement with the Florida Department
of Transportation to provide maintenance on certain streets throughout the city; and
WHEREAS, the City desires to maintain landscaped areas on Atlantic Boulevazd and
Mayport Road at the new Mayport Road flyover; and
WHEREAS, the azeas to be maintained are identified in Attachment "A" of the attached
agreement.
NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Commission of the City ofAtlantic Beach as
follows:
SECTION 1. The Mayor is hereby authorized to execute the Agreement for Maintenance
with the Florida Department of Transportation on behalf of the Citiy of Atlantic Beach.
SECTION 3. This-Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its final passage and
adoption.

WITNESSETH:
WHEREAS, the Department and the Contractor heretofore on 9/12/2002
into an Agreement whereby the Deppartment retained the Contractor to perform
bilifies within the exisiting Ilmits of tFre state highways and to maintain the aesthetic
as
WHEREAS, said Agreement has a renewal option which provides for a renewal if mutually agreed to by both
parties and subject to the same terms and conditions of the original Agreement;
and
NOW, THEREFORE, this Agreement witnesseth that for and in consideration of the mutual benefits to flow each
to the other, the parties agree to a renewal of said original Agreement dated 9/12/2002
for a period of one year beginning the 1st day of October , 2003 and ending the 30th
day of September , 2004 -at an annual cost of $ 50.Obo_on Fifty thousand dollars
and no cents. speafied herein.
All terms and conditions of said original Agreement shall remain in force and effect for this renewal.
