Exh 8BAGENDA ITEM #8B AUGUST 25, 2003 CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH CITY COMMISSION STAFF REPORT AGENDA ITEM: Request to authorize Builders Care to perform rehabilitation services expending the remaining balance of FY 2002-2003 CDBG Housing Rehabilitation funds. SUBMITTED BY: Sonya Doerr, AICP ,~/,U Community Development Director DATE: August 18, 2003 BACKGROUND: Builders Care has fully completed rehabilitation of two of the three homes previously authorized in June, and the third will be completed this coming week (pending dry weather.) We estimate that approximately $8000 will remain, and staff is now working to identify applicants, which are most in need of immediate assistance so that income and eligibility verifications can be completed. This information will be provided for the Commission's consideration at the August 25th meeting, but since the end of the fiscal and grant yeaz is quickly approaching, staff requests approval to authorize Builders care to perform the remaining construction services. The Planning and Building Departments have been very satisfied with the services provided by and the City's relationship with Builders Care. Work has been timely, of good quality and the coordination with Builders Care allows the City to ,continue its small housing rehabilitation program in an efficient and resourceful manner. RECOMMENDATION: Authorize Builders caze to perform the remaining construction services for income eligible residents, expending the balance of Fiscal Year 2002-2003 grant funds. BUDGET: Account 110-1005-515.83-00, not to exceed $30,000.00 for all Fiscal Year 2002- 2003 CDBG Housing Rehabilitation funds. ATTACHMENTS: .Photos (work in progress at 320 Dudley Street) REVIEWED BY CITY MANA August 25, 2003 regular meeting AGENISA ITEM #8B AUGUST 25, 2003 On Friday, August Sth, Builders Care brought two youth groups to our rehab house at 320 Dudley Street to assist with the re-roof and the interior renovations. Within a day, the house was re-roofed; the interior was emptied, scrubbed and repainted from floor to ceiling, -- and a hundred or so pounds of snow cones had been consumed. 2 August 25, 2003 regular meeting
