SUBJECT: City Man er's Report
Government Officials from Afghanistan to Visit; The State Department has asked Atlantic
Beach to host a delegation of local government officials from Afghanistan on Friday, September
26`h. Their purpose is to understand the role, structure and operations of local governments, the
provision of local government services, how local governments are financed, local government
zoning, security and crime prevention, sanitation, and various cultural issues. We have
tentatively planned for presentations by our Mayor, City Manager and Department Heads in the
Commission Chambers from 9:OOam until 11:30 that morning and a luncheon at the Sea Turtle.
Atlantic Beach elected officials will receive an invitation to a reception on Thursday night,
September 25`h at Jacksonville University. In addition to the foreign visitors, representatives
from the U.S. Department of State, the State oFFlorida and Jacksonville are also expected to
attend the reception.
