FROM THE DESK OF
CINDY L ANDERSON
This will confirm my enthusiastic wish to fill the Commission seat vacated by Mr.
Stinson. As requested, I have enclosed a brief resume, highlighting my professional
background as an employment lawyer and dispute neutral. I am sure my professional
experience will bring a positive contribution to the Commission. I've advised cities on
labor and employment issues in the past,so am aware of the challenges which can
arise there. I would also be able to utilize my experience as a mediator to listen
carefully to citizens'concerns and seek alternatives with fellow Commissioners to best
achieve their goals.
Furthermore, I am using this opportunity to highlight certain details of past service to
the community:
• When I chaired the Jacksonville Beach Elementary SAC,we were able to
change DCSB's plans and have the new school built on its original site as
a smaller facility, pursuant to the parents'wishes.
• As chair of the Pablo Towers Board, I was involved in the acquisition of the
second site for elderly low income housing at the beach, Pablo Hamlet.
• As SAC chair of Fletcher High School for six years, my kids were happy we
changed the dress code to allow flip flops! But I was most proud of our
successful efforts to get a new science facility built.,
You will note I have also volunteered in building for Habitat for Humanity at the
Beaches, serving meals at Mission House,an overnight host for Family Promise, and a
mentor for Take Stock in Children and confirmation classes. I was honored to serve on
the City's Pension Board in the past, and I served often in the legal community earlier
in my career.
Each of the above efforts required time and commitment. I will give the same time and
commitment to the citizens of Atlantic Beach, if given the chance.) look forward to
working with all of you. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to offer myself in
service to our city.
Sincerely,
Cindy L.Anderson
