RE: Letter of Intent for the vacancy of Seat 2, District 1308
Dear Mayor Glasser and Commissioners:
Upon hearing of Commissioner Stinson's decision to step down from Seat 2 on the City
Commission, I reached out to him to learn more about his methods and experiences
while he served our city and the residents of District 1308. His response was kind and
thoughtful, as his constituents have come to expect. He leaves a legacy of hard work
and dedication that is both humbling and inspiring. I would like to thank him for his
service to our wonderful little beach community.
I first fell in love with Atlantic Beach in 2002 and after living here briefly in 2003 I knew I
wanted to come back and make it my permanent home. In January of 2014, I did just
that along with my husband and now we are raising our family in his childhood home.
The Vincent Family has been in Atlantic Beach since 1979 and I am truly invested in the
future of this community because of that.
Professional work experience aside, I feel the value that I would bring to the commission
is evident in my local community service experience and my interactions with families
throughout the Atlantic Beach community. I have demonstrated an ability to be fair and
impartial when making decisions on behalf of those I serve. I have done it many times
when dealing with emotionally charged issues. My approach to these situations is simple,
I have a strong moral compass, I listen to all stakeholders and, above all else, I follow
the rules. While I do not relish the idea of holding myself out to public scrutiny, I believe
this community is worth it.
Our City has seen significant changes in the last 15 years and I have committed myself
in recent years to do what I can to help guide what changes I could to preserve the
character of our hidden gem.
Thank you for your service and for your consideration.
Respectfully Yours,
Marli a V. Vincent
