To whom it may concern:
It has been discovered by the contractor during the remodeling that the existing foundation pier and
support beam in the crawlspace is directly below the new bearing points of the interior opening shown
in detail 3 of the original structural plan. We have reviewed this condition and found it acceptable for
the posts to bear directly onto the floor beam below provided that the bearing location is directly above
the CMU pier and concrete footing. This omits the need for the 4x4 post and footing shown in detail 3.
The upper post is still to be strapped to the floor beam with (2) MSTA24's as indicated in the original
detail.
