SWIMMING POOLS, WADING POOLS, SPAS AND HOT TUBS. RECOMMENDED: GRATES SHOULD BE INSTALLED
WITH SUFFICIENT OPEN AREA TO ENSURE A MAXIMUM VE OCITY OF 1.5 FT/S THROUGH THE GRATE(S).
2. SUCTION OUTLETS SHALL BE INSTALLED IN ACCORDANCEIIWITH ANSI/APSP-7, LATEST. THE FOLLOWING

AND ASTM F2387-04); G) GRAVITY FLOW TO A VENTED COL ECTOR TANK; H) OUTLET SUMPS IN SERIES; 1) OR

7. FIELD BUILT SUMPS SHALL BE CONSTRUCTED SUCH THAT THE OPENING OF THE SUCTION PIPE WILL BE NO
CLOSER THAN 1.5 TIMES ITS INSIDE DIAMETER FROM THE OTTOM OF THE COVER/GRATE OR SUCH THAT THE
SUMP IS OF THE DESIGN SPECIFIED BY THE COVER/GRAT F MANUFACTURER TO CONTROL FLOW THROUGH

UNLESS THIS WIRING IS NECESSARY TO SUPPLY POOL EQUIPMENT PERMITTED BY NEC
ARTICLE 680. ALL RECEPTACLES SHALL BE LOCATED AT LEAST 10' FROM THE INSIDE
WALL OF POOLS_ ALL RECEPTACLES WITHIN 20' OF THE POOL SHALL HAVE GFCI
PROTECTION. ADDITIONALLY, ALL UNDERWATER LIGHTING SHALL BE GFCI PROTECTED.
MOUNTING HEIGHT FOR ANY LIGHT FIXTURES SUSPENDED OVER POOLS SHALL BE NOT
LESS THAN 12' ABOVE MAXIMUM WATER LEVEL.
3. IF APPLICABLE, PROVIDE #12 AWG CONDUCTORS AND GROUND FOR 12V UNDERWATER
LIGHTING CIRCUITS LESS THAN 8' IN LENGTH. FOR 12V CIRCUITS 8' TO 15' IN LENGTH,
PROVIDE #8 AWG CONDUCTORS AND GROUND. FOR 12V CIRCUITS GREATER THAN 16,
BUT LESS THAN 25' IN LENGTH, PROVIDE #6 AWG CONDUCTORS AND #6 GROUND. NO 12V
CIRCUIT SHALL BE MORE THAN 25' IN LENGTH.
4. OPTIONAL: ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR SHALL INSTALL NO FEWER THAN ONE 125 -VOLT 15 -
OR 20 -AMPERE RECEPTACLE ON A GENERAL PURPOSE BRANCH CIRCUIT. RECEPTACLE
SHALL BE LOCATED NOT LESS THAN 10 FT. FROM AND NOT MORE THAN 20 FT. FROM THE
INSIDE WALL OF THE POOL. THE RECEPTACLE SHALL BE LOCATED NOT MORE THAN 6 FT.
6 IN. ABOVE THE FLOOR, PLATFORM, OR GRADE LEVEL SERVING THE POOL.
5. RECIRCULATION PUMP SHALL BE ELECTRICALLY INTERLOCKED WITH CHEMICAL
EQUIPMENT, IF APPLICABLE.
6. AN EQUIPOTENTIAL COMMON BONDING GRID IS REQUIRED FOR ALL PAVED WALKING
SURFACES WITHIN THREE FEET OF THE INSIDE WALLS OF THE POOL AND/OR SPA FOR

AND EACH SECTION IS CLAMPED WITH APPROPRIATE LISTED DEVICES AND/OR #8 SOLID
COPPER JUMPERS. THE BONDING GRID MAY NOT BE INSTALLED DIRECTLY IN EARTH
CONTACT OR WITHOUT PROPER COVER. THE INSTALLATION MUST BE IN ACCORDANCE
WITH 680.26(C), NATIONAL ELECTRIC CODE (NEC - LATEST VERSION) AND FLORIDA
BUILDING CODE (FBC - LATEST VERSION) W/ LATEST AMENDMENTS.
7. THE FOLLOWING IS AN ACCEPTABLE ALTERNATIVE TO THE BONDING GRID DEFINED IN
NOTE #6, ABOVE: AN UNDERGROUND BONDING CONDUCTOR MADE OF A SINGLE #8 AWG
BARE SOLID COPPER WIRE BURIED TO A MINIMUM DEPTH OF 4 INCHES TO 6 INCHES
BELOW SUBGRADE AND 18 INCHES TO 24 INCHES FROM INSIDE WALL OF THE SWIMMING
POOL OR SPA. THIS IS DEFINED A PERMISSIBLE ALTERNATIVE OR EQUIVALENT TO
COMPLIANCE WITH S.680.26(C) OF THE NEC (2017), NFPA 20, ADOPTED BY REFERENCE
WITHIN FBC.
