A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH,
FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE EXPENDITURES OF
FUNDS FROM THE TREE CONSERVATION TRUST FUND
FOR DEFINED TREE PLANTINGS ON PUBLICLY OWNED
LANDS WITHIN THE CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH.
WHEREAS, The Environmental Stewardship Committee recognizes the importance of
Atlantic Beach's tree canopy and is committed to its enhancement; and
WHEREAS, The Environmental Stewardship Committee recommended the use of funds
from the Tree Conservation Trust Fund for the planting of trees on multiple publicly owned lands
within the City of Atlantic Beach at their November 14, 2018 meeting; and
WHEREAS, Section 23-14 of the Code of Ordinances requires that the use and
distribution of funds from the Tree Conservation Trust Fund shall be designated by the City
Commission; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH, FLORIDA, THAT:
SECTION 1. The City Commission hereby authorizes the use of up to twenty-five
thousand ($25,000.00) dollars from the Tree Conservation Trust Fund for the following activities:
1. The planting of trees along the banks of Sherman's Creek in the vicinity of City Hall.
2. The planting of trees throughout Donner Park to enhance the canopy within the park.
3. The planting of trees throughout Johansen Park to replace the canopy in areas where
trees were lost through natural causes and storm damage.
SECTION 2. This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon adoption.
ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the City Commission of the City of Atlantic Beach,
Florida, 10th day of December 2018. /
