Thanks, Kevin -----Original Message----- From: Amy [mailto:aimelise@yahoo.com] Sent: Thursday, December 20, 2018 2:14 PM To: Hogencamp,Kevin <kHogencamp@coab.us> Subject: Parking on 18th St Hi! I will not be able to attend the meeting tonight due to a prior obligation. I would just like to provide my personal opinion on the 18th Street parking issue this way, although I live in Royal Palms and rarely need to go to 18th Street during busy times. I do like to go there on "off" times and have been there quite a few times over the years. I've never seen or heard of a problem. But, again, I don't live up there. I honestly believe if enough people show up and voice their opinion, they will do the "right" thing no matter waht. Just a couple of points if you could pass it on to the correct people: - If there is no study done to show safety concerns, please leave everything as is. Maybe they just need more frequent garbage pickup? - If there is room to put pavers or a sidewalk or something - if there is enough evidence to show it's needed - then please consider this option. - There are neighbors on Beach Ave that use those spaces for personal parking a lot. Not all of those people parking there are going to the beach. - Can someone survey the people parking there to see where they are coming from, physically, before anyone makes a decision? I would like to know if they are from Jax Beach unable to find parking, or if they are AB residents, or if they are none of the above. If this info is already out there, I would like to know where to access it. - Do not take away the ADA parking spots, in any case. This is a ridiculous idea and I don't think it should have anything to do with how steep the 18th St walkover is. - I'm fine with adding more parking on Saturiba, now learning it used to be there. If there was a legit reason it was taken away, and there is a legit reason why the landscaping has changed and should no longer accomodate parking again, then fine. But, otherwise if it's not a big deal, go ahead and add more spaces. BUT DO NOT TAKE ANY SPACES AWAY from that whole area. - The parallel parking idea is crazy. So is the one-way street idea. But again, I don't live up there and drive it every day. - I really appreciated Chief Cook's valuable statistics and they don't really support anyone's issues unless I missed something. Also, if they are going to limit residents to 5 minutes talking, I really think each commission member should have a limit, too....a time or two during that meeting I thought I was going to pull my hair out due to the length of time people were talking and were a bit long winded when we really can get the point a lot sooner. Also, I don't know her at all, but at that meeting I would have felt very intimidated to talk because it seemed Mayor Glasser was a bit bothered or frustrated by several topics and didn't seem as interested to be there as I had expected. But, maybe it was a bad night to get a first impression! Residents, pedestrians, bikers, and drivers just need to get along much better and easier in this town. l'm coming in at the end of this but I did try really hard to read all the back notes and watch the back hearings. It's a lot. I sat through the last commission meeting about this (my first one) and cannot believe this is even taking up everyone's time. I hope it gets resolved. If I can help in any other way, please let me know! Amy Rose Royal Palms AB resident
