Exh 4BAGENDA ITEM #4B JANUARY 28, 2002 AGENDA ITEM: CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH CITY COMMISSION MEETING STAFF REPORT Repair and Painting of Elevated Water Tank No. 1, Bid No. 0102-4 SUBMITTED BY: Donna Kaluzniak, Utility Director DATE: January 18, 2002 BACKGROUND: The elevated water tank at Water Treatment Plant No. l is inspected annually, and regular preventive tnaintenance is scheduled as needed.. The tank is in need of some minor repairs, as weII as painting inside and outside. Contract documents were prepared, which specified coating. products from Benjamin Moore, Inc., however, contractors were allowed to request substitutions of equal products as follows: "Where only a single source product or manufacturer is named, provide the product indicated or submit a request for substitution for any producf or manufacturer not named. " None of the bidders subtnitted any requests for substitution. A Mandatory Pre-Bid Meeting was held on January 3, 2001, and five bids were received on January 9, 2002. The bids were as follows: Contractor Clifton's Tower Service, Inc. Tank Pro, Ina Utility Services, Inc. V.LP. Paintin Worth Contract Bid Price $41,580 $57,310 $51,370 $85,690 $53,900 A bid analysis was performed, and the low bidder meeting all requirements was Clifton's Tower Service in the amount of $41,580, BUDGET: A total of $50,000 was budgeted for this work in the Water Treatment Account No.400-5502-533-6300. RECOMMENDATION: Award the contract for Repair and Painting of Elevated Water Tank No. 1 to Clifton's Tower Service in the amount of $41,580.
