SUBJECT: City M ager's Report
Beach Renourishment; The Corps of Engineers has advised that the due date for proposals from
contractors for the beach renourishment/river dredging project bas now been rescheduled to
February 8`h. The Corp hopes to review the bids and make an awazd by the end of Februazy.
The bid opening had originally been scheduled in late December, but was delayed.
Atlantic Beach staff has taken several steps to acquaint both the Corps of Engineers and
Jacksonville staff of the severity of sand loss during the Fall storms. Pictures of beach erosion
have been sent to both and Atlantic Beach has engaged a surveyor to recheck several of the
elevations prepazed by the Corp last Summer prior to the Fall storms. We wIll continue to
monitor the progress of this project.
